2 launch nights at the Cité de l’espace

This summer, the Cité de l’espace hosted two exceptional private night broadcasts which filled the IMAX® theatre to capacity.
The first event took place on the night of July 25 to 26th, on the occasion of the launch of the Vega C launcher from the Guiana Space Center. Organized jointly by the CNES and Airbus Defence and Space (ADS), the event enabled their employees present, including teams who had worked on these projects, to watch live, at four in the morning, the launch of two satellites into orbit, CO3D (ADS) and MicroCarb (CNES).
A few weeks later, on the night of August 12 to 13th, a second event, organized by the CNES, allowed its employees to watch at around 130 in the morning the liftoff of Ariane 6 which was carrying the Metop-SG satellite. Developed by the European Space Agency (ESA), this satellite is equipped with the IASI-NG instrument. (Infrared Atmospheric Sounding interfer-ometer-New Generation), developed by Airbus Defence and Space under the supervision of the CNES.
The fact that the Cité de l’espace was selected to host the live broadcast of these two events reflects the Toulouse site’s role as a major hub for the major milestones in the French space sector, including those that take place at the most unexpected times. It also illustrates the agility and creativity of Semeccel teams, who are ever ready to create new innovative formats to share these occasions with the public.
