On April 26th for a game against Castres, the Stade Toulousain team wore a new jersey, designed with Nike, CNES, the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Cité de l’espace. Inspired by the ESA Terrae Novae mission, it incarnates Europe’s ambition to return to the moon and to reach Mars. Prior to the meeting, the Cité de l’espace hosted a film shoot with the influencer MarcelinZ, an astronomy enthusiast, to present this original jersey. A contest was also organized for supporters. Before the kick off, a jersey was officially given to the Cité de l’espace in the presence of Arnaud Prost, an ESA reserve astronaut. This partnership illustrates how Stade Toulousain and the Cité de l’espace are strong symbols of Toulouse’s identity. In 2020, an agreement was already signed on the occasion of the presentation of a former jersey co-designed with ESA, of which an example is displayed today at the Cité de l’espace. This dynamic partnership continued in 2023 with the Space and Rugby exhibition, organized by the Cité de l’espace and Stade Toulousain. The jersey presented on April 26 will be showcased at the Cité de l’espace and will soon enrich the on-going dialogue between science and sports.
