On February 14, the Cité de l’espace was delighted to welcome 42 young people aged 12 to 17 from rural and urban neighborhoods in the Tarn region with often limited access to cultural opportunities. The initiative was part of an outing organized by the Cerberus association, winner of the regional “Keys to the planet” call for projects. The event which brought together youth from la Communauté de Communes des Monts de Lacaune, a rural regeneration zone, and youth from the QPV or Priority neighborhood of the city of Aussillon, highlighted the importance of universal access to educational and cultural activities. Accompanied by Vincent Garel, Chairman of the Governance Board of Fonds OCC’YGENE and of the Regional Committee for Tourism and Leisure in Occitanie, and Daniel Vidal, President of the Communauté de Communes des Monts de Lacaune et de la Montagne du Haut Languedoc (CCMLHL), participants were warmly welcomed by Jean-Claude Dardelet, President of the Semeccel-Cité de l’espace and Jean Baptiste Desbois, its CEO. Offering a window on the world, the day helped break down barriers between rural and urban neighborhoods, and illustrated the magic that occurs when young people from different backgrounds come together to explore the mysteries of the Universe.
